The Last of Us Season 2 showrunners have revealed an upcoming episode inspired by the beloved Bill and Frank storyline from Season 1. This new episode will center around the character Eugene Linden, portrayed by Joe Pantoliano, known for his role in The Sopranos. In the original video game, Eugene serves as a patrolman for the Jackson community and has a close friendship with Ellie’s love interest, Dina.
Anticipation Builds for Bill & Frank-Inspired Episode in The Last of Us Season 2
During a recent press conference, the showrunners described Season 2’s special episode as “gorgeous,” noting that while it may evoke memories of the acclaimed Bill and Frank story from Season 1, it will be uniquely different. The episode titled “Long, Long Time,” featuring Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett, is remembered as one of the standout moments from the first season, with Offerman winning an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor and Bartlett receiving a nomination.
One of the showrunners emphasized, “It was important for us not to simply emulate the Bill and Frank episode because people enjoyed it. This episode unfolds in its own unique way. Directed by Neil, it is a beautiful story that stands on its own.”
The Last of Us continues to star Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, alongside Gabriel Luna as Tommy Miller and Rutina Wesley as Maria. Season 2 will draw from the highly acclaimed video game sequel, The Last of Us Part II, which introduces a grown-up Ellie and features a time leap. The cast will also see new additions, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Manzino as Jesse, Isabela Merced as Dina, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, and Danny Ramirez as Manny, with a guest appearance by Catherine O’Hara.
Don’t miss the premiere of Season 2 on April 13.
