The Cure has officially announced their highly anticipated album, Songs of a Lost World, set to release on November 1, marking their first new album in 16 years. Titled track "Alone" has been unveiled, with Robert Smith at the helm as producer, alongside Paul Corkett, recording at Rockfield Studios in Wales. Fans can expect the tracklist to be revealed soon on the band’s official website and social channels.
Smith described "Alone" as the pivotal track that brought the album’s vision into clarity. He noted, “as soon as we had that piece of music recorded, I knew it was the opening song.” The concept of isolation resonated throughout the creative process, culminating in a connection to the poem “Dregs” by poet Ernest Dowson, which inspired the album’s essence.
The follow-up to 2008’s 4:13 Dream has had a tumultuous development since 2019 when Smith shared that the band had recorded 19 songs, hinting at two albums. While initially aiming for a summer release, delays led Smith to express frustration at the potential for missed deadlines.
After lying dormant until 2022, the band began teasing their new title and integrating fresh material into live shows. Two of these new tracks, “And Nothing Is Forever” and “I Can Never Say Goodbye,” are also set to be released as singles this November.
Stay tuned for updates about Songs of a Lost World as this iconic band prepares to make their return to the music scene.
