Thai authorities are investigating a disturbing viral video that reportedly shows an employee of a call centre in Myanmar being violently attacked by a group of assailants.
The nearly four-minute video depicts a man, whose hands are bound, enduring kicks and blows from a gang. Initial reports suggest the group responsible for the assault is linked to the call centre employing the victim.
According to sources, a Chinese organized crime group operates in a facility located behind a company named Zhongfa in the border town, adjacent to Mae Sot district in Thailand’s Tak province. This establishment reportedly accommodates over 800 call centre workers from diverse nationalities, including Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Ethiopians, Ugandans, Japanese, Kenyans, and Thais. The video footage was allegedly obtained by an individual who infiltrated the building through ceiling vents.
Pol Gen Thatchai Pitaneelaboot, inspector-general of the Royal Thai Police, confirmed that border police are actively tracing the incident’s location and have reached out to Myanmar authorities for assistance. Investigators are also examining the video’s authenticity as part of their inquiry.
