Authorities in Tak, Thailand, have reported that prominent Chinese actor Wang Xing, also known as Xingxing, has been missing after crossing into Myanmar, prompting a search by local officials. A police spokesperson stated that there is currently no evidence indicating the actor was forced into his journey, suggesting that his travel was voluntary.
Thai officials have reached out to Myanmar authorities to assist in locating the actor, who was last tracked via CCTV footage crossing the border from Ban Mae Kon Ken, in the Mae Sot district of Tak.
The Chinese embassy in Bangkok is actively involved, following a report from Wang’s family regarding his disappearance. They are coordinating efforts to find him.
Wang, aged 31, reportedly departed from Shanghai Pudong airport and arrived at Suvarnabhumi airport near Bangkok in the early hours of Friday, having been invited for an audition. He subsequently traveled to Mae Sot district of Tak, with his last sighting at the border around 10:10 AM on Friday.
Initial investigations by police revealed that Wang arrived in Thailand alone with only a rucksack. He traveled directly from the airport to Tak, accompanied by a chauffeur, who is currently considered the only witness in this case.
Pol Lt Gen Archayon Krathong emphasized that there is no indication of coercion, assault, or human trafficking related to Wang’s disappearance. Investigators are still determining if he departed for Myanmar through an official crossing.
“The top priority at this moment is to locate him,” Pol Lt Gen Archayon confirmed, as Pol Gen Thatchai Pitaneelabut, inspector-general of the Royal Thai Police Office, arrives in Tak to oversee the developments in the case.
