Mass protests continue to target Tesla facilities around the globe, driven by mounting dissatisfaction with CEO Elon Musk’s political influence. Activists converged at a Tesla showroom and service center in North Hollywood on March 15, 2025, marking one of the most significant protest days for the movement.
As part of the “Tesla Takedown” initiative, thousands of demonstrations are scheduled to occur nationwide, with organizers aiming for 500 protests worldwide. This coordinated effort aims to boycott the electric vehicle manufacturer by encouraging supporters to sell their Tesla vehicles and stocks.
Frustrations toward Musk encompass his perceived dismantling of government agencies and policies, which protesters believe are harmful to infrastructure and society. Joel Lava, an organizer from Los Angeles, asserted that the grassroots movement is a direct response to Musk’s actions.
The activist group also condemns Musk’s controversial political statements and behaviors, including accusations of promoting division and targeting various social issues. “Musk’s influence must be challenged by exposing the ramifications of his behavior on his wealth and position,” Lava stated.
While the protests largely aim to express dissent peacefully, there have been instances of vandalism involving Tesla vehicles and properties. Despite the movement’s commitment to nonviolence, some individuals have engaged in destructive acts in protest against Musk.
Lava emphasized the importance of maintaining a peaceful dialogue while pushing back against Musk’s power. “Our goal is to unite people against practices that undermine social cohesion,” he added.
Musk has recently come under fire for public comments against activists, including accusations against community organizers in Seattle regarding their protest efforts. Accusations made against these activists have led to serious concerns about their safety and the potential for violent backlash.
As the climate surrounding Tesla evolves amid these protests, the company’s market performance faces scrutiny amid decreasing sales figures. Analysts remain cautious about linking these downturns solely to Musk’s political maneuvers, noting Tesla’s increasing competition within the electric vehicle sector.
