An accident on the Otedola Bridge section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Boxing Day resulted in 10 individuals suffering various injuries.
According to a report from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the incident occurred when a long bus collided with a stationary container truck. The bus driver reportedly lost control due to a brake system failure, leading to the crash. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported; however, 10 passengers, including three adult males and seven adult females, sustained injuries.
LASEMA’s response team arrived promptly and discovered the long bus had crashed into the 40-foot container truck from behind. Investigations revealed that the driver’s loss of vehicle control was caused by the brake failure.
The agency’s team administered first aid to the injured victims before transporting them to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Passengers who were unharmed were moved to another vehicle to continue their journey.
In a related incident, five people were injured in a separate auto crash along the Mile 2-Badagry Expressway on Christmas Day. Reports indicate that the accident involved two commercial buses colliding due to a mechanical fault in one, which failed while traveling at high speed.
