A recent report reveals a significant uptick in engagement and NFT transactions within Telegram’s gaming ecosystem during the third quarter of 2024.
The number of unique wallets transferring NFTs skyrocketed from 200,000 to over 1 million in just one quarter, with 600,000 wallets actively participating in NFT transactions related to gaming.
Players are also dedicating more time to Telegram games. The average session length nearly doubled, increasing from 2.8 to 6.7 minutes, indicating that enhancements in game design are successfully capturing user interest.
Regional analysis showcases a notable shift in Telegram’s gaming demographic, with 55.91% of players hailing from Europe. This marks a departure from the traditional strongholds of Asia and Latin America within the Web3 gaming sector.
Surge in Engagement in Telegram Games
The report highlights the success of Catizen, which conducted its first airdrop, distributing 34% of its total token allocation, including 150 million tokens in September 2024 alone. This initiative significantly boosted activity, reflecting the game’s successful integration into Telegram.
In September, Catizen was also officially listed on Binance Launchpool, enabling users to farm its native token prior to trading, further enhancing engagement.
Similarly, Gamee saw a remarkable 300% increase in volume and transactions month-over-month, demonstrating growing player involvement. X Empire attracted nearly 48 million players, with 18 million wallets connected to the game.
Other notable titles included Rocky Rabbit, which garnered 30 million players, and Banana, reaching 10 million users by October. Wonton users exceeded 1 million within its debut week.
Despite this rapid growth, developers are facing challenges as new games flood the platform. Smaller teams are grappling with constrained marketing budgets and user acquisition. To address these challenges, developers are diversifying game genres and offering a broader range of experiences, including simulations, RPGs, and puzzles, signifying an evolution in Telegram’s gaming landscape beyond casual gaming.
