Taylor Swift has announced the cancellation of her three Eras Tour performances in Vienna following the arrest of two men suspected of planning a terrorist attack. The concerts, scheduled for August 8, 9, and 10 at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion, were expected to draw nearly 200,000 fans. All tickets for the Vienna shows will be automatically refunded, as confirmed by the local concert promoter.
According to a press release from the Austrian interior department, both suspects had become radicalized online and had taken specific steps toward executing a terrorist attack. In light of this, security measures have been heightened at major events, with the terror alert level in Austria remaining high and under ongoing evaluation.
As the European leg of her Eras Tour nears completion, Swift recently performed three shows in Warsaw, Poland, and is set to bring her tour to London’s Wembley Stadium for five concerts. After concluding her European dates, she is expected to return to North America in October before finishing the tour in Canada this December.
