Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin declared on August 20 that the ongoing lateral entry in civil services poses a significant threat to social justice, undermining the opportunities for eligible SC, ST, OBC, and minority officers at higher levels.
He urged the Union Government to discontinue this practice, emphasizing the need to fill existing vacancies for OBCs and SC/STs and to ensure fair and just promotions across all levels.
Additionally, Stalin called for the complete elimination of the Creamy Layer system, pressing for immediate adjustments to the stagnant ceiling for the creamy layer to enhance inclusivity.
These measures, he argued, are essential to uphold social justice, protect reservation rights, and guarantee their effective implementation in civil services.
