Suspected kidnappers have allegedly murdered a businessman, known as Sunny Taxman, following the collection of a N10 million ransom from his family.
The victim, originally from Alor Agu in Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State, was residing in Onitsha, Anambra State, at the time of his abduction three weeks ago. Reports indicate he was kidnapped while in his vehicle by unidentified assailants.
Sources reveal that his body was discovered in a dry gutter at the boundary of Nkwelle Uke, near RCC in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State. A video circulating on social media depicts the shocking scene, showing the deceased’s body lying in the gutter as bystanders gather around.
A family source has confirmed that after the ransom of N10 million was paid, the victim’s murder ensued. The circumstances suggest he may have been recognized by his captors, prompting them to eliminate him to prevent exposure.
“This tragic event unfolded as he was en route to an event three weeks ago, and despite the ransom payment, they still took his life,” the source expressed.
In response to the incident, the spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command stated they were not initially aware of the situation and promised to investigate further.
