The Supreme Court has directed the Uttarakhand government to make a decision regarding the suspension of 14 herbal products from Patanjali Ltd within two weeks. This order, issued on July 30, 2024, was prompted by claims from legal representatives of the Indian Medical Association, who asserted that these products had reappeared on retail shelves.
Patanjali contends that the suspension order was revoked by the State government on July 1, following the review of a report from a designated Committee. Subsequently, a fresh notice was issued to Patanjali on July 8, indicating that the matter was still under governmental consideration.
During previous court sessions, Patanjali Ayurved confirmed that it had instructed its exclusive and franchise stores to withdraw the suspended herbal medicines. The company, founded by yoga guru Baba Ramdev, is currently facing contempt proceedings due to allegations of promoting misleading advertisements in contravention of court orders. Patanjali has also attempted to engage social media and advertising platforms to remove all promotions related to these products.
