During the recent Xbox Partner Preview, Unknown Worlds and Krafton made an exciting announcement: Subnautica 2 is officially in development, promising to deliver a sequel filled with “mystery and wonder.” Set to be released in 2025, players will be able to access the game through Steam Early Access, the Epic Games Store, and Windows Store. Additionally, it will be available at launch via Game Pass in the Game Preview program.
Subnautica 2 transports players to a new ocean environment filled with vibrant biomes, strange creatures, and hidden secrets waiting to be uncovered. The game emphasizes both solo and cooperative play, featuring crafting and base-building mechanics as players strive to survive the eerie ocean depths. Up to four players can join forces, collaborating to create tools, construct bases, and battle monstrous foes that lurk beneath the surface.
Unknown Worlds is keen on using the early access launch to gather player feedback, aiming to refine the game into its best possible version. While this is a full sequel, it’s worth noting the studio recently released a standalone spin-off titled Subnautica: Below Zero in 2021.
The original Subnautica received critical acclaim, scoring a remarkable 9/10 for its immersive visuals and thrilling gameplay. This highly anticipated sequel builds upon that foundation, promising to engage players once again in the mesmerizing and perilous depths of the ocean.
