A remarkable collection of stunning images highlights the beauty of our planet’s icy landscapes. A newly released book, *Our Frozen Planet*, dives deep into the cryosphere, encompassing all forms of ice, including glaciers, ice sheets, permafrost, and snow cover.
The featured image showcases an extraordinary ice formation surrounding a waterfall near Giswil, Switzerland. Icicles merging from the top and bottom have combined to create a stunning, giant ice column.
Another breathtaking image captures Bryce Canyon in Utah, illustrating how slope orientation significantly impacts snow distribution in mountainous regions. While the south-facing slope has almost completely melted, a thick layer of snow remains on the north-facing side.
Nordvestfjord in Northeast Greenland National Park is also featured, where ancient metamorphic rock serves as a dramatic backdrop to an iceberg mirrored in the tranquil fjord waters.
Finally, the Vadret da Morteratsch glacier in Switzerland reveals a unique perspective from within a tunnel carved through the snow and ice by meltwater, taken during the winter months when no water flowed through.
