Last year, Zynga launched Star Wars Hunters, a free-to-play 4v4 shooter featuring new characters in iconic locations from the Star Wars universe. However, after less than a year since its debut, Zynga announced that Star Wars Hunters will officially shut down this fall.
On its official website, Zynga revealed that the game’s final update will occur on April 15 across all platforms. Following this update, the game will remain playable and available for download until October 1, after which the servers will be closed, making it unplayable. The company expressed gratitude to fans for their support and assured them of transparency during the final months of the game.
"While we understand this news may be disappointing, we want to assure you that this decision was not made lightly. Your passion for the game and its community has greatly impacted us, and we are committed to providing updates throughout this transition," Zynga stated.
As the game approaches its closure, Zynga has confirmed that crystal purchases will not be refunded, urging players to use their currency before in-game purchases are disabled on April 15.
In a final push, Star Wars Hunters Season 5 will be extended by three weeks, with Zynga bringing back previous events and shop bundles. The ranked season will also see extensions to allow more players to reach the prestigious Kyber 1 rank. The last update will introduce a new support hunter named Tuya, available for free, and will include one final ranked mode for competitive play.
Meanwhile, the most recent console game in the Star Wars franchise, Star Wars Outlaws, faced its own challenges, prompting Ubisoft to issue several updates for improved gameplay. Looking ahead, the upcoming game Star Wars Eclipse reportedly remains unaffected by recent layoffs at NetEase.
