Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl developers GSC Game World have officially announced a delay in the game’s release, now set for November 20. The highly anticipated title, initially scheduled for launch on September 5 for PC and Xbox Series X|S, has experienced several postponements.
In a statement, game director Yevhen Grygorovych expressed gratitude for the community’s patience, explaining that the additional two months will allow the team to address unforeseen issues: “We are just as eager as you are to finally release the game and for you to experience it for yourself.”
The development of Stalker 2 has faced significant challenges, particularly due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, which prompted the studio to relocate to Prague. The studio suffered further difficulties when a team member was killed in action, and its offices were damaged in a fire in late 2023.
GSC Game World plans to provide an in-depth look at Stalker 2 on August 12 through a developer diary video, featuring exclusive content, interviews, and insights into the game’s development. The preview will include new footage showcasing various locations and a walkthrough of a story quest.
Additionally, gameplay footage revealed at the recent Xbox Games Showcase highlighted the chilling atmosphere of the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone and introduced some of the game’s eerie adversaries. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly awaited title.
