Awka, Anambra State
Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has officially sworn in 21 newly elected local government chairmen from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). The inauguration took place in the Executive Chambers of the Anambra State Government House in Awka.
The local government chairmen were elected last weekend during the council elections organized by the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC).
During the ceremony, Governor Soludo urged the new chairmen to prioritize development in their localities. He stated, “I charge you to champion and deepen development at the grassroots level.”
He congratulated them on their electoral successes and emphasized the importance of collaboration between state and local governments to sustain the state’s growth and progress. “You must focus on providing basic amenities and improving the lives of citizens in your constituencies,” he added.
Governor Soludo also highlighted the significance of accountability and transparency in managing public resources. He advised the chairmen to eschew corrupt practices and ensure that public funds are utilized effectively for the benefit of the people.
In addition, deputy chairmen for all 21 local government areas were inaugurated alongside the chairmen during the brief ceremony.
