Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully prevented a terrorist attack in the Saulawa community, located in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
On Friday, during a routine patrol, the troops cleared the Maidaro and Ngade Alha villages before engaging with terrorists. A statement from the Nigerian Army confirmed that a fierce gunfight ensued, resulting in the elimination of two terrorists, alongside the recovery of weapons and 11 motorcycles.
In their announcement, the Nigerian Army’s Operation Forest Sanity highlighted that the operation dealt a significant blow to terrorist activities in the region. Troops, while conducting a combat patrol to Saulawa, reported the successful engagement with the attackers following their earlier efforts to clear nearby villages.
The firefight led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine loaded with 23 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and the destruction of one motorcycle due to damage sustained during the confrontation.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its steadfast commitment to countering terrorism, emphasizing their relentless efforts to strip terrorists of operational freedoms and undermine their capabilities. The Army remains dedicated to safeguarding the nation and its citizens from the threats posed by terrorism.
