The Smile is set to make a swift return with their highly anticipated second album, Cutouts, releasing on October 4. This album follows their previous release, Wall of Eyes, and includes the recent single “Don’t Get Me Started” along with “The Slip.” The band also teases two more tracks, “Foreign Spies” and “Zero Sum,” both accompanied by innovative music videos.
Comprising Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood from Radiohead, alongside jazz drummer Tom Skinner, The Smile has been actively touring in support of Wall of Eyes throughout the year. However, the trio recently had to cancel multiple performances due to a serious infection that resulted in Greenwood being hospitalized. Thankfully, he has reportedly recovered and is on the path to returning home.
The new album was produced by Sam Petts-Davies and recorded in Oxford, as well as the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, during the same time frame as Wall of Eyes.
