Peter Edward Clarke, widely known as Budgie, the acclaimed drummer from Siouxsie and the Banshees, has announced the release of his new memoir titled The Absence. This eagerly anticipated book will take readers on a journey through the vibrant late 1970s and early 1980s British post-punk scene, where Budgie collaborated with influential acts including the Slits and Big in Japan, alongside his experiences with Siouxsie Sioux, including their marriage and subsequent divorce. The memoir is set to be published on June 5.
In a recent statement, Budgie reflected on the writing process, stating, “To remember, revisit, and to write, was traumatic and cathartic. The thought of publication? Terrifying! While I prepared for rejection, I was met with love and understanding. I can only empathize with those still affected by the past and offer my prayers. I share my mistakes in hopes that we can all learn from them and avoid similar paths.”
