Jakarta, ECNETNews – The ongoing disciplinary hearing by the Police Ethics Commission (KKEP) regarding officers accused of extorting Malaysian citizens during the Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) concert has resumed.
Today, one police officer is set to face the hearing, as confirmed by the Head of Public Information Division of the National Police, Police Commissioner Erdi Adrimulan Chaniago.
“Yes, one officer will be undergoing ethics hearing today,” he stated on January 8, 2025.
However, he did not disclose the officer’s identity.
In addition, Choirul Anam, a member of the National Police Commission (Kompolnas), noted that the officer facing the hearing today is identified as Briptu D. Kompolnas continues to monitor the ethics proceedings for the officers involved in the DWP extortion case.
“One person, Briptu D,” Anam confirmed.
The extortion case against the Malaysian citizens became public knowledge after the National Police’s Public Relations Division, led by Police Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, revealed that 18 officers from various units had been detained.
“Eighteen personnel have been identified as suspects. They are from the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Central Jakarta Metro Police, and Kemayoran Metro Police precincts,” Trunoyudo stated in a press release on December 21, 2024.
He added that these personnel have undergone an internal investigation by the Propam division of the National Police to ascertain any ethical or legal violations during their duties.
Trunoyudo reiterated the National Police’s commitment to taking strict action against any member tarnishing the institution’s reputation.
“We assure that the National Police will not tolerate any violations committed by our personnel. Investigations are conducted professionally, transparently, and thoroughly,” he emphasized.
