ECNETNews, February 19, 2025: Shenseea and Vybz Kartel shone brightly at the 2025 MOBO Awards, where Shenseea celebrated her second win as Best Caribbean Music Act, and Vybz Kartel made a notable surprise appearance to accept the prestigious MOBO Impact Award.
The ceremony took place in Newcastle, UK, with Shenseea emerging victorious against a strong lineup that included Skillibeng, Popcaan, Spice, YG Marley, and last year’s winner, Valiant. This marks her second accolade following her 2021 win.
The evening reached a crescendo when dancehall icon Vybz Kartel took the stage alongside his son, Likkle Vybz, and fiancée, Sidem, to accept the MOBO Impact Award. The award was presented by dancehall queen Spice, who also made her MOBO debut with an energetic performance of her hit, “So Mi Like It.”
MOBO Founder & CEO Kanya King CBE acknowledged Kartel’s profound influence on the music industry, stating, “Vybz Kartel’s impact on music is immeasurable. His influence extends beyond the world of dancehall, in which he is a musical giant.”
In addition, Kartel delivered a brief performance, energizing the crowd and highlighting his enduring appeal.
The night culminated with Spice’s thrilling performance, paving the way for Vybz Kartel’s captivating 90-second medley, leaving the audience exhilarated with his signature sound. This marked Spice’s first performance at the MOBO Awards.
