Ireland’s Shane Lowry and Austria’s Sepp Straka are leading the Truist Championship by three shots after an impressive third round. Both players sit at 14 under going into the final round at the Philadelphia Cricket Club’s Wissahickon Course.
Straka showcased his skills with a remarkable 24.5-foot birdie putt on the 17th hole, briefly taking the lead before Lowry matched him with a birdie of his own. Straka finished the day with a four-under-par 66, aiming for his second PGA Tour title of the season, while Lowry closed with a 67.
Defending champion Rory McIlroy started strong with three birdies in his first six holes but stumbled with two consecutive bogeys, ending the round at a 69. McIlroy is currently tied for sixth at eight under.
Meanwhile, Keith Mitchell, who led after the first two rounds, struggled with his putting, shooting a one-over 71 and falling to a tie for third at 11 under alongside Justin Thomas, who carded a 66.
Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama had a standout performance, shooting a seven-under 63 to climb to fifth place at 10 under.
Mitchell lost momentum after struggling on the par-three 14th, while Lowry and Straka continued their pursuit of victory.
