Seven tourists in Fiji have been hospitalized due to suspected alcohol poisoning, with reports indicating they are in critical condition.
The group, which includes four Australians aged between 18 and 56, reportedly consumed cocktails at a resort bar on Saturday night. Shortly after, they exhibited concerning symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and neurological issues.
This incident occurs just weeks after six tourists tragically lost their lives in Laos from suspected methanol poisoning, raising alarm about alcohol safety in tourist destinations.
The affected tourists, vacationing on the Coral Coast, were initially treated at Sigatoka Hospital before being transferred to Lautoka Hospital for further medical care. Meanwhile, two Australian families in Fiji are receiving consular support as authorities work to address the situation.
