Senior Advisor Jason Miller discusses the upcoming priorities for the new Trump administration in an exclusive interview.
In the lead-up to the inauguration of the new Trump administration, key questions arise about its radical reforms. While campaigning, Trump hinted at extreme measures against critics and controversial constitutional interpretations. Following the election, discussions surrounding policy changes have intensified, particularly concerning immigration and cabinet appointments. This morning, Murray Louise Kelly interviewed Jason Miller to gain insights into the administration’s Day 1 agenda.
“Our plans include reinstating Trump-era policies from the previous administration,” Miller stated. “Key measures like the Remain in Mexico policy will return, along with the end of catch-and-release practices. We anticipate utilizing Executive Orders to implement these changes immediately.”
When asked about the specifics of closing the southern border, Miller clarified that the focus would be on preventing illegal entries while ensuring that commerce remains unaffected. “The distinction is that we will close the border to illegal entries, not to all movement,” he explained.
However, challenges loom, particularly with nations like Venezuela potentially resisting the return of deported individuals. Miller expressed confidence, asserting, “They’ll take them back.”
Miller also touched on the administrative lessons learned from the previous term, highlighting that this time around, Trump has a clearer plan and a more defined cabinet structure in place ahead of the inauguration. He emphasized that this preparation is crucial to avoid the disarray that characterized the early days of Trump’s first term.
