Joint security operatives in Katsina State successfully thwarted a bandit attack during an operation on Saturday, resulting in the neutralization of one suspect.
The Katsina State Police Command confirmed the operation, initiated by Commissioner of Police Aliyu Abubakar Musa, in collaboration with the Department of State Services and the Katsina State Community Watch Corps.
According to the police statement, intelligence indicated that bandits were gathering at Maijele Mountain in preparation for an assault on Dan Takuri village within the Danmusa Local Government Area.
Acting swiftly on the credible intelligence, the operational team, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Danmusa, launched an operation at the mountain where the bandits were seen assembling.
A fierce confrontation ensued, resulting in the death of one armed bandit, while others fled with varying degrees of injuries. During a thorough search of the area, law enforcement recovered substantial items, including an AK-47 rifle with ammunition, an unregistered motorcycle, wraps of suspected Indian hemp, soft drink bottles, a cutlass, and various illicit substances.
Commissioner Musa commended the operatives for their professionalism and bravery, emphasizing the command’s ongoing commitment to collaborate with security agencies to safeguard the lives and properties of Katsina residents. He also urged the public to provide timely and accurate information to enhance security efforts against criminal activities in the state.
