A recent investigation into potential extraterrestrial communications within the TRAPPIST-1 system has yielded no evidence of alien life. This system, which was discovered in 2017, consists of seven Earth-sized planets circling a cooler red dwarf star, located approximately 40 light-years from Earth.
All seven planets orbit their star at closer distances than Mercury orbits the Sun, and they periodically transit in front of the star from our vantage point. Notably, three of these planets reside within the habitable zone, an area where conditions are suitable for liquid water to exist, raising hopes for the possibility of life.
