Sean “Diddy” Combs has initiated a high-profile defamation lawsuit against NBCUniversal Media LLC, Peacock TV LLC, and Ample Entertainment, stemming from allegations presented in the recent documentary Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy. Combs and his legal team assert that the companies are “shamelessly capitalizing on the public’s insatiable appetite for content about Mr. Combs in the lead up to his criminal trial,” seeking $100 million in damages.
The 90-minute documentary, which premiered last month, includes interviews with various individuals connected to Diddy, amid serious allegations he is currently facing, including sexual assault, gang rape, and grooming. Diddy is set to stand trial on federal charges related to racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution in May.
Diddy’s attorney, Erica A. Wolff, criticized the defendants in the lawsuit, stating that they made a conscious effort to profit at the cost of truth and decency. She highlighted that the documentary includes unfounded accusations against Diddy, claiming that the defendants are exploiting public interest in scandal without regard for accuracy, thereby undermining Diddy’s right to a fair trial.
The lawsuit seeks to hold the defendants accountable for the significant damage caused by their statements.
For those affected by sexual assault, support is available through various resources.
