Santa Cruz, California – Hardcore band Scowl has officially signed with Dead Oceans, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter with their latest single, "Special." The track reunites the band with Grammy-nominated producer Will Yip, who previously collaborated with them on their 2022 EP, Psychic Dance Routine. "Special" also features a captivating music video directed by Silken Weinberg.
In a recent statement, Scowl’s frontwoman Kat Moss shared insights about the creative process behind "Special." She revealed that the song’s foundation began with a demo sent by guitarist Malachi Greene while the band was on tour in the UK. The track evolved with contributions from each band member, culminating in a sound that Moss describes as "kamikaze." The lyrics reflect a deep introspection, questioning both the audience’s desires and her own yearning for vitality.
Scowl first captured attention with their debut album, How Flowers Grow, released in 2021. Since then, they have continued to redefine the hardcore genre, following up with Psychic Dance Routine and a significant remix of its title track.
Stay tuned as Scowl continues to push the boundaries of their sound and engage with fans on their thrilling musical journey.
