A tragic accident occurred in eastern China’s Dongping county when a school bus crashed into a crowd, resulting in the deaths of at least 11 individuals, including five students. The horrific incident also left several others injured, with one person reported to be in critical condition.
Witnesses noted that the bus struck students and parents gathered outside a school in Tai’an city, Shandong province. Reports indicate that the driver “lost control” of the vehicle and has since been taken into custody as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. The intent behind the incident remains unclear.
According to state media, the deceased include six parents and five students, while twelve others have been reported in stable condition. Eyewitness accounts and footage from the scene depict a chaotic situation, with individuals appearing trapped beneath the vehicle.
This devastating event comes shortly after students returned to school, marking the beginning of the new academic year. Traffic accidents, unfortunately, are not uncommon in China; earlier this year, a similar incident in Changsha claimed the lives of eight pedestrians and left several injured.
