Rory McIlroy staged an impressive comeback at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, overcoming a six-shot deficit amidst challenging weather conditions to emerge as a strong contender for the title.
The golfer began his third round with a remarkable performance, securing four birdies on the front nine. He continued to dominate, adding gains at the 15th, 16th, and the par-five 18th hole, bringing his score for the day to seven under, totaling -15 for the tournament.
Shane Lowry also excelled, matching McIlroy’s score of 65 on Saturday, highlighted by an eagle on the second hole that propelled him up the leaderboard.
“I felt like the weather switched on six for us,” McIlroy commented. “I suggested to Harry to just try and chip the ball around today, as I didn’t feel like I made a full swing after that.” He praised his ability to par through the squally conditions on the seventh through tenth holes, before enjoying a more favorable back nine.
Scottie Scheffler is also making a notable recovery, finishing the round at 10 under with a solid score of 69, following a hand injury he sustained while cooking last month.
The excitement continues as viewers can catch the final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am live, with coverage starting at 4 PM on Sunday.
