The nominees for the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame have been announced, featuring a diverse lineup of 14 artists vying for induction. Among the returning nominees are iconic acts such as Oasis, the White Stripes, Mariah Carey, Soundgarden, and Joy Division/New Order. This year also introduces first-time nominees including Outkast and Phish. The final inductees will be revealed in late April, followed by a ceremony scheduled for the fall.
Completing this year’s nominee roster are notable names like Cyndi Lauper, Bad Company, Billy Idol, the Black Crowes, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, and Maná. Some artists from previous nominations, such as Sinéad O’Connor, Sade, and Eric B. & Rakim, did not make the cut this year. The class of 2024 included celebrated performers like Cher, A Tribe Called Quest, Dave Matthews Band, Mary J. Blige, Ozzy Osbourne, Kool & the Gang, Peter Frampton, and Foreigner.
John Sykes, chair of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, emphasized the significance of this year’s nominees, stating, “These remarkable Nominees have each created their own musical style and attitude impacting generations of music lovers and contributing to the ever-evolving sounds and growth of rock’n’roll.”
In addition to performer nominees, three non-performer honorees will also be selected in April, recognizing achievements in Musical Influence, Musical Excellence, and the Ahmet Ertegun Non Performer Award.
