On Tuesday night, a poignant prayer vigil was held at Adas Israel Congregation in Washington, D.C., attended by over a thousand individuals, including Doug Emhoff, the second gentleman and the first Jewish spouse of a U.S. president or vice president. The event was a somber tribute to six hostages recently killed by Hamas, whose bodies were recovered over the weekend.
The tragic deaths of these six hostages come over 300 days after Hamas launched an attack on Israel on October 7, taking more than 240 individuals hostage. As time unfolds, many lives are lost in captivity, leaving families in deep anguish.
Among those affected is LeElle Slifer, whose cousin, Carmel Gat, was one of the six hostages killed. LeElle reflected on her cousin’s significance to her family and expressed their hopes for action from the Israeli government.
