The Deputy Spokesperson for the House of Representatives has expressed unwavering support for Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, emphasizing a commitment to advancing the Legislative Agenda of the 10th House.
Philip Agbese praised Speaker Abbas’ humility and his effective leadership since taking office in June 2023, highlighting the importance of his inclusive approach that fosters unity among lawmakers across various political affiliations.
The Benue lawmaker indicated that despite the diverse political backgrounds represented, harmony within the House is paramount. “The unity we have achieved is remarkable. Speaker Abbas’ humility is a key factor in our collaborative spirit, which is essential for sound governance,” Agbese stated.
He noted that lawmakers from the APC, PDP, APGA, LP, SDP, ADC, and YPP share a collective goal: to improve the lives of Nigerians through strategic legislation. “Our agenda tackles crucial governance issues, reminding all members of our commitment to the manual designed for the betterment of Nigeria,” he affirmed.
Agbese commended the Speaker for his prompt actions in response to recent humanitarian crises in Northern Nigeria, pointing to the swift delegation he sent to Maiduguri following devastating floods. “His humanitarian approach remains intact, even amidst political roles,” he added.
Furthermore, he dismissed any concerns over rising tensions within the Senate, asserting, “The Speaker has the confidence of the members. Our unity and collaboration differ fundamentally from what might be seen in the Senate.”
