Ahead of the upcoming Edo State Governorship Election on Saturday, September 21, 2024, the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus in the House of Representatives has made a significant donation of ₦200 million to support the party’s candidates, Monday Okpebholo and his running mate, Dennis Idahosa.
The announcement was made by Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the APC Reps’ Fundraising Committee for the election. Okpebholo and Idahosa, both representing Edo Central Senatorial District and Ovia North East/Ovia South West Federal Constituency respectively, are prominent members of the APC.
The caucus emphasized its unwavering commitment to the party by contributing ₦200 million towards the campaign for the governorship polls. This effort was a collective initiative led by the Deputy Speaker and involved contributions from individual members of the APC in the 10th House.
The statement reiterated the caucus’s determination to secure victory in the forthcoming election, highlighting the capability and service record of Senator Okpebholo and Hon. Idahosa. It underlined the solidarity within the party as they rally support for their candidates.
The donation was officially presented during a ceremony led by the Leader of the House, accompanied by key members and officials from the House of Representatives.
