In a significant development regarding a high-profile rape case in Uttar Pradesh, authorities have confirmed that DNA evidence has linked former block head Nawab Singh Yadav to the alleged assault of a 15-year-old girl. This finding was reported on Monday, September 2, 2024, by local officials.
Nawab Singh Yadav, who previously managed a private educational institution, is accused of exploiting the victim under the guise of offering her a job opportunity.
Circle Officer Kamlesh Kumar revealed that the DNA sample taken from Yadav has matched the evidence collected from the crime scene. The forensic examination, conducted at the Forensic Science Laboratory in Agra, confirmed the findings after the sample was sent for analysis on August 17.
Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand stated, “The forensic evidence collected from the scene has validated the rape allegation, and further action is in progress.”
A team of medical professionals collected Yadav’s DNA sample on August 16, following a court directive, at the district jail.
During a prior court session, Yadav had consented to provide his DNA sample to assist in the investigation. Following his agreement, the police, along with medical personnel, securely gathered the sample for forensic analysis.
Additionally, the victim underwent a medical examination with her parents’ consent, which corroborated the claims of rape.
The case has ignited a political firestorm, with the ruling party accusing Yadav of being closely affiliated with prominent Samajwadi Party figure Dimple Yadav, a former MP from Kannauj. In response, the Samajwadi Party has distanced itself from Yadav, who was apprehended on August 12, 2024.
