India mourns the passing of Ratan Naval Tata (86), Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, who died on October 10, 2024, marking the loss of one of the country’s most influential and respected business leaders.

Mr. Tata was fiercely protective of the Tata legacy, demonstrating unwavering resolve against challenges to the group’s heritage. Following his appointment as the successor to JRD Tata in 1990, he faced resistance from influential leaders within the group but successfully navigated boardroom disputes to ensure the holding company maintained control and discipline.
His leadership led to significant initiatives, including the rebranding of Tata Steel and Tata Motors and strategic acquisitions of international companies like Tetley Tea and Jaguar Land Rover, ultimately enhancing the Tata brand on a global scale.
