A 45-year-old psychologist has been arrested in Nagpur on charges of blackmailing and sexually exploiting at least 50 of his students over the past 15 years. The arrest was confirmed by police officials on January 13, 2025.
The accused operated a clinic and residential program in eastern Nagpur and is facing serious charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. According to authorities, the psychologist lured students, primarily girls, with false promises of personal and professional development. He reportedly organized trips and camps, where he would sexually abuse the victims and capture explicit images to use for blackmail.
The case came to light when a former student, who was a victim of blackmail, reported the matter to the police. Officials are concerned that many victims, some of whom are married, may be reluctant to come forward to file complaints.
In response to these allegations, police have established a special committee aimed at supporting victims and ensuring a thorough investigation into the matter.
The investigation continues as authorities seek to uncover the full extent of the accused’s actions and provide justice for the victims.
