Dominica is advancing its housing sector with innovative projects launched in Woodford Hill, Eggleston, and Vieille Case, aimed at providing citizens with safe, comfortable, and resilient homes.
One noteworthy initiative is the Woodford Hill Housing Development, located in the scenic area of Small Farm. This project covers 6,680 square meters and includes the construction of eight bungalows alongside two duplex buildings.
In addition, the Eggleston Housing Project, situated on a 12,151-square-meter site, features four duplex buildings and aspires to become a landmark residential area. This initiative is designed to foster a sustainable and self-sufficient community through the addition of green spaces and renewable energy solutions.
The Vieille Case housing project stands out for its community-focused approach. Covering 8,344 square meters, this initiative will create ten standalone houses and two duplex buildings in the Ambas region.
Local contractors play a crucial role in these developments, not only constructing homes but also generating opportunities for the community.
Each housing unit in the various projects boasts a combined living and kitchen area ideal for gatherings, comfortable bedrooms, modern bathrooms, a laundry area, and a welcoming verandah for leisurely evenings. Built with reinforced concrete and robust blockwork, these homes are designed to endure hurricanes and earthquakes.
Fully funded by the Citizenship by Investment Programme and managed by MMC Development Ltd., these three housing projects symbolize more than just physical developments; they represent thriving communities dedicated to Dominica’s mission of “building back better, one home at a time.”
