Professor G.N. Saibaba passed away on Saturday night, October 12, 2024, following a prolonged struggle with multiple health issues that prevented him from spending quality time with his family after his recent acquittal, as shared by his younger brother, G. Ramadevudu.
While waiting outside the mortuary at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad for the organ donation process to conclude, Mr. Ramadevudu recounted the immense distress his brother endured due to various illnesses, asserting that Professor Saibaba frequently visited hospitals.
Upon his release from prison, Professor Saibaba was taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). His brother alleged that inadequate treatment during his incarceration resulted in his falling from a wheelchair, causing irreversible shoulder injuries.
After departing for Delhi on August 30 to address his dismissal from Delhi University, Mr. Saibaba experienced severe stomach pain and fever a week later. Medical professionals determined that his gallbladder required removal, a procedure that had been recommended prior to his imprisonment but was postponed due to lack of proper testing and care.
Mr. Saibaba was readmitted to NIMS in Hyderabad, where his family resides. Initially recovering well post-surgery, he soon developed a fever and stomach pain again. Doctors later discovered an infection, leading to internal bleeding and organ failure.
Unfortunately, Mr. Ramadevudu reported that his brother suffered a massive heart attack around 8:00 p.m. and did not survive, despite the immediate attention from medical staff.
