Biden Administration Unveils Revamped White House Tour Ahead of Presidential Transition
WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden celebrated the much-anticipated reimagined public White House tour during a dinner event on Sunday. The updated tour, set to be revealed on Monday, aims to inspire future generations by providing an enriching experience of the historic residence.
In his remarks, President Biden emphasized their temporary stewardship of “the People’s House,” reflecting on their time in office as his term approaches its conclusion. He highlighted the significance of the updates in the broader context of White House history.
Jill Biden, who spearheaded the tour revamp, remarked that while the evening signified the conclusion of one phase, it marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for public tours of the White House. She expressed her deep honor in serving as First Lady.
The announcement comes at a pivotal time, coinciding with Washington, D.C.’s shoulder season—the transitional period between peak tourism and the off-peak season—as the nation gears up for an upcoming presidential election and potential changes in administration.
In conjunction with the tour updates, a new attraction has emerged within the past year, providing visitors with a unique glimpse into the White House. A replica of President Biden’s Oval Office opened in September at an interactive venue designed to engage tourists, since access to the actual Oval Office is limited during public tours.
White House tours remain free of charge and can be arranged through the White House or through congressional representatives.
