At the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con, the showrunner of The Boys confirmed the eagerly anticipated development of Vought Rising, a prequel series focusing on Jensen Ackles’ character, Soldier Boy, and Aya Cash’s Stormfront/Liberty. This announcement comes as fans await the debut of the hit Prime Video series’ fifth and final season, which has yet to announce an official release date.
What to Expect from Vought Rising?
The series has been described as a “lurid pulp saga prequel,” set against the backdrop of 1950s New York. In the original series, Soldier Boy and Stormfront/Liberty were among Vought’s earliest superheroes, with Stormfront being the first to undergo the controversial Compound V injections. The series will see the return of the original showrunner as an executive producer, alongside another seasoned producer.
“We are thrilled to introduce the next outrageous chapter from The Boys universe,” said the showrunner in a statement. “Vought Rising is a twisted murder mystery that dives into the origins of Vought during the 1950s, exploring the early exploits of Soldier Boy and the sinister tactics of a super known as Stormfront, who was then called Clara Vought. Prepare for a mind-bending and soul-troubling experience filled with blood, intrigue, and the dark legacy of Compound V.”
The Boys is created and executive produced by a renowned showrunner, rooted in the acclaimed comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The main series features a talented ensemble cast, including several notable actors.
