Recent findings from a nationwide opinion survey indicate that just over one-third of Thais remain undecided in their support for the government following its flagship 10,000 baht cash handout scheme. The survey, conducted by the National Institute of Development Administration (Nida Poll) from October 1-3, included responses from 1,312 participants aged 18 and older, representing various educational backgrounds and occupations.
When asked about their political support for the Pheu Thai-led government after receiving the 10,000-baht digital wallet handout, respondents expressed a range of views:
34.35% were unsure and had not made a decision.
30.31% believed the handout could partially influence their support for the government.
20.38% stated they already supported the current administration, regardless of the handout scheme.
13.13% indicated they would not support the government under any circumstances.
1.83% remained either unaware or uninterested in the matter.
Regarding intentions for the 10,000-baht cash handout, respondents shared the following plans:
86.79% intend to use the funds for daily expenses, including utility bills and petrol.
16.49% plan to save for future expenses.
14.35% aim to repay existing debts.
13.59% will allocate funds for health-related costs, such as medications and doctor visits.
8.24% intend to purchase goods for resale.
7.48% will use the funds for educational expenses.
1.37% plan to buy electrical appliances.
1.07% expressed interest in purchasing lottery tickets.
0.99% intend to buy mobile phones or IT devices.
0.69% plan to spend on entertainment, including partying and tobacco.
0.31% express an interest in travel.
0.15% plan to invest in gold or jewelry.
0.99% did not provide a response.
