In a significant effort to raise awareness about cybercrime, the NTR Police Commissionerate conducted a skating marathon on October 5, 2024, at the Kanaka Durga temple. This initiative aimed to educate devotees about various cyber offenses and how to protect themselves.
Police Commissioner S.V. Rajashekar Babu emphasized that the event aimed to inform attendees about dangers such as honeytraps, digital fraud, private loan scams, and phishing. “The skating marathon served as a platform to caution the public against the many tactics employed by cybercriminals,” he stated.
The marathon route started at the Vinayaka temple and went through the temple toll-gate and Kummaripalem Junction, drawing significant attention from the public.
Students participated actively, holding placards with impactful slogans like ‘I am a cyber citizen,’ ‘Cyber safety starts with you,’ and ‘Protect your passwords, protect your life.’ These messages resonated with devotees in the darshan queue, urging them to remain vigilant against cyber fraud.
The program was designed to enlighten attendees on the techniques used by fraudsters to ensnare unsuspecting victims online. Caution boards displaying various cybercrime methods and safety tips were strategically placed throughout the temple area to further enhance public awareness.
“Cyber offenses are a growing global concern, and raising awareness across communities is crucial in combating these threats,” remarked Ravikanth, a youth participant in the marathon. Many devotees expressed their gratitude to the police for organizing such a vital event.
