The Jigawa State Police Command has successfully apprehended a fraudster involved in motorbike theft and animal rustling during separate operations.
At a press briefing in Dutse, the Jigawa State Capital, the command’s spokesman confirmed that on August 28, 2024, operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department arrested Ilyasu Munkaila, 45, from Asayaya village in Kiyawa Local Government Area, for his involvement in a fraud conspiracy case.
Munkaila reportedly confessed to the crime, revealing he received N50,000 as his share of the fraudulent proceeds. This arrest is linked to a report filed by Alhaji Sani Muhammad, 50, from Kano State, who claimed to have been defrauded by unknown individuals in Nafara village, Birnin Kudu, on July 29, 2024.
In addition to Munkaila’s arrest, law enforcement officials recovered two motorbikes, two sheep, and a ram associated with the crime.
The Command emphasized its ongoing efforts to apprehend other suspects involved, reiterating its commitment to combating crime and maintaining public safety in Jigawa State.
