The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended a suspect, Temidayo Fadahunsi, in the Ijoka area of Akure for alleged mobile phone theft. The arrest follows a reported case of phone theft at a local police station.
During a press conference at the police headquarters in Akure, the state Commissioner of Police announced that law enforcement officers, acting on shared intelligence, arrested Fadahunsi on February 6, 2025. A subsequent search of his residence yielded 228 Android phones, 156 batteries of various types, and 23 foreign SIM cards, none of which Fadahunsi could account for.
The Commissioner stated, “The suspect is currently under investigation and will face charges in court upon the completion of inquiries.”
Additionally, several suspects wanted in connection with various kidnapping incidents across the state have been arrested. In a separate incident, a woman was kidnapped from her home in Ipele. Thanks to a prompt response from the police and local youths, she was rescued, during which officers recovered an AK-49 rifle. The Commissioner confirmed the arrest of Yusuf Suleiman in connection with this abduction.
Lastly, Ishaku Abdul, recently released from a correctional facility, was also arrested after neighbors suspected him of involvement in local criminal activities. The Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad captured Abdul at Aladura Camp, Oke-Oge, Osi, in Akure North Local Government, an area experiencing a surge in kidnappings.
The Commissioner assured that all suspects, previously listed as wanted, will be charged in court upon finalizing investigations.
