SAVANNAH, Ga. — A tragic small plane crash in a Savannah residential neighborhood on Sunday night has left one person dead, according to local authorities.
The Savannah Police Department confirmed that officers responded to the scene on East 66th Street, located approximately 3 miles south of the city’s historic district.
Initial reports indicate that the pilot lost their life, while a passenger sustained minor injuries. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among residents in the vicinity.
Local firefighter unions reported that the incident occurred just before 10 p.m., sharing images of the wreckage in front of a residence.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with the Federal Aviation Administration actively looking into the matter.
