Jakarta, ECNETNews – Partai Golkar has officially announced the opening of registrations for candidates vying for the position of party chairman for the 2024-2029 term, a role previously held by Airlangga Hartarto. The registration period will commence on Monday, August 19, 2024, from 16:00 WIB to 22:00 WIB.
This announcement was made by the Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) and the 11th National Congress (Munas XI) of Partai Golkar 2024, who stated, “The registration will begin at 4 PM and will close at 10 PM, in accordance with our party’s statutes.”
Furthermore, during the nomination process, candidates are required to submit 30 percent of supporting letters from DPD 1 and DPD 2, according to the Chairman of the Steering Committee. “The voting rights belong to DPD 1, which includes 38 provinces, and DPD 2, covering 508 regencies and cities, in addition to mass organizations,” he explained.
All submitted requirements will be meticulously verified by the steering committee. Only candidates who meet the criteria will be eligible to run for the position. The recent decision by Airlangga Hartarto to step down as Chairman was based on considerations aimed at maintaining party unity and ensuring a stable transition in government.
In a video statement, Airlangga conveyed his resignation, declaring, “With the utmost regard for the party’s integrity, I hereby resign as Chairman of the DPP Partai Golkar,” emphasizing the importance of a peaceful and orderly transition in accordance with organizational regulations.
“Political parties are the pillars of democracy. We must ensure the continuity of our democratic processes for future generations,” he asserted.
