Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who oversees the Science and Technology portfolio, praised the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for its significant achievements over the years, describing them as a “source of inspiration” for the nation.
During his visit to the Satish Dhawan Space Centre-Sriharikota (SDSC-SHAR) for National Space Day, Kalyan highlighted the sacrifices and relentless dedication of the scientists and staff members who have propelled India’s space mission to unprecedented heights.
Kalyan reflected on ISRO’s journey from its early days in Thumba, Kerala, to its current status, expressing admiration for its capability to launch 104 satellites in a single mission. “By capturing 2-3% of the global space market and contributing to India’s GDP, ISRO has positioned our country advantageously within the international space economy,” he noted.
The Deputy Chief Minister also underlined the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government’s commitment to prioritizing space research, recalling how Prime Minister Narendra Modi consistently supports scientists, regardless of mission outcomes. He mentioned that despite the partial setback of the Chandrayaan-2 Mission, the Prime Minister’s encouragement inspired the scientific team to achieve success with Chandrayaan-3.
During the event, SDSC SHAR Director A. Rajarajan presented Kalyan with a model of Chandrayaan-3, followed by the distribution of prizes to students who excelled in various competitions held in recent months.
