Paul McCartney has unveiled a highly anticipated new book, Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run, set to release on November 4. This comprehensive 528-page volume chronicles the journey of his 1970s band, Wings, following the breakup of The Beatles.
Beginning with the band’s formation in 1971, the book provides an in-depth look at Wings’ evolution through their nine albums, including the iconic Band on the Run. McCartney, drawing from personal recollections and interviews with former bandmates and family, revisits the defining moments of Wings’ storied career. The book is rich with 150 stunning photographs, including many that have never been published before.
Reflecting on the journey, McCartney expressed his excitement, stating, “I’m so very happy to be transported back to the time that was Wings and relive some of our madcap adventures through this book. Starting from scratch after The Beatles felt crazy at times… but as we got better, I thought, ‘OK this is really good.’ We proved Wings could be a really good band and have an impact in a different way.”
In the past year, Wings celebrated their legacy with a 50th anniversary edition of Band on the Run, alongside the live studio album One Hand Clapping. The forthcoming book is poised to be a significant addition to the collection of music literature, appealing to fans and music historians alike.
