Over 60 individuals have been reported injured following a drone strike in the Binyamina region of northern Israel, according to local medical sources.
The volunteer emergency response organization stated that injuries sustained by the victims vary from critical to mild. All injured persons have been transported to five nearby hospitals via ambulances and helicopters.
Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the drone strike, asserting that it targeted a training camp belonging to the Israeli Defence Forces’ Golani Brigade, strategically located between Tel Aviv and Haifa.
The militant group announced that the attack was a retaliation for earlier Israeli actions in southern Lebanon and Beirut on Thursday.
According to the group, the strike involved a “swarm of drones” aimed at the Israeli camp. Although Israeli media is constrained by censorship regulations regarding specific target details, some sources indicate that a low-level drone launched from Lebanon may have been involved in the attack, a method that reportedly did not trigger early warning systems.
Footage from local media portrayed emergency responders assisting the injured into medical transport, which includes helicopters. Reports indicate that 67 individuals have sustained injuries, with four listed in critical condition and five sustaining serious wounds.
A significant number of those injured were evacuated to the Hillel Yaffe Medical Centre in nearby Hadera, while others have been transported to hospitals in Tel Hashomer, Haifa, Afula, and Netanya.
Witness accounts suggest that many victims were in a communal canteen when the strike occurred, catching them off guard. Images circulating online reportedly show a damaged mess hall with a significant hole in its roof.
